GiGi's Birth Story of YOU!!

As a mother you are always thinking and Imagining and remembering how it was when you held your first child in your arms. The amount of love that just fills you up as you carry that child to the point that they lay them in your arms. You however don't stop long enough to think about how you will feel when that same child is carrying her first child. That excitement and love is so intensified. Everyone has asked me "how does it feel to be a grandma?" my answer, just like being a mom times 10.

     Dear Graysen,

How excited we were for you to come into our family. Your mommy and daddy waited a long time for you. They planned for you, and dreamed of you and waited until it was your time to come to earth. Your sweet mommy had a rough time carrying you, But never complained as she carried her little I.V pack around so that you and her could stay healthy, she just smiled and at times we even wondered if she was just playing dress up. She always looked like a little girl just playing house. We all loved going and getting a little peeks in mommies belly and finding out you were a sweet little boy. Then there was so much planning to do.
Finally, dad calls and said mom is a little uncomfortable. Heading for the hospital. Papa and I could not get to the hospital fast enough. We thought by the time we got there that you would be here. Unfortunately for mom, you decided to stop and rest. But as easy going as your mom is we should not have been surprised. But at least we knew you were on your way. Mom and Dad needed to rest for their big job ahead so we went home and waited for the phone call that you were ready to be born. The call came early and again could not get to the hospital fast enough. Mom was a little tired and Dad was a little anxious your daddy did not like watching mommy be uncomfortable. It was hard for him to not be able to fix it. But he did stay close and supportive. Once the doctor helped mommy get a little more comfortable. That's when the fun really started. Mommy kept laughing with her stresses of her uncomfortable body functions. The nurses did their best to erasure her that there was nothing to be worried bout. But your mommy was so worried that she kept your daddy and I laughing right up until the nurse called for the doctor. Your mommy still continued to worry so much that she "tooted" right when the doctor sat down. Daddy and I tried to keep a straight face, but we just could not stop laughing. The doctor got right down to business helping mommy deliver you. Mommy once again looked and acted like a little girl playing house. Finally we could see the top of your little head. A little more coaxing and we saw your whole head covered with allot of dark hair. Suddenly the look on the doctors face was a little more serious. The umbilical cord had wrapped around your tiny neck. He quickly delivered you and unwrapped the cord. He handed you quickly to the nurses and to check you out. You were perfect. Every little tiny finger and tiny toes. You did not seem real. You looked like a tiny doll that you could play dress up with. Daddy just sat and looked at you. His little man, mommus little angel. They waited so long for you, and so much love to give you. Everyone was called and it was a race to get to the hospital. Papa got there with Aunt Emileigh and Uncle Ethan. Uncle Ethan was sick so he had to wait outside. Daddy held you up in the window so he could get a good look at you. Aunt Bobby was sick to and couldn't see you for a couple of days. She saved up a good hug and kiss for you when she felt better. All in all we are so blessed to have you here with us and cannot wait to see you grow.

April 3, 2010 ~ Your Labor Story

Well it all started on April 2, 2010 I had been having some bad cramping and was not sleeping very well at all I just felt "Different". So I called your dad around 3 on the 2nd and told him that he needed to take me to the doctor. Well my doctor decided to close his office that Friday and go to Disneyland (My favorite place in the world) So we were told to go to Ogden Regional To Labor and Delivery. We got there around 5 and they put these fun little monitors on my belly to monitor my contractions and your heart beat. I was having regular contractions but I was not dilating, so the nurse sent me to walk around the hospital for a hour when I got back she checked me again and was only dilated 1/2 a centimeter more THEY WERE GOING TO SEND ME HOME.... I was in allot of pain and did not want to go home I wanted you. The nurse went and called the on call doctor- Dr. Davis he told her to give me a morphine shot for the pain and another shot I could not remember what it was called but it was supposed to stop the contractions, if it was false labor and if it was real labor it would help things progress. so after I got my shots I decided to go walking again just to see if anything would happen. AND it didn't so at 10:00 they sent us home. On our way home your dad stopped and got me a Wendy's Hamburger, Fries ad a Dr. Pepper my favorite. We got home and ate and I made some jello for the Petersen family Easter party that was the next day. And then we went up to bed to watch the latest episode of the Fringe well we got all settled in and I had turned over to close my eyes cause I was going on 48 hours of no sleep and my water broke. We called the labor and delivery and they told us to come in right away. So here it is 11:30 ish and we were going back to the doctor. Your sweet dad was kinda upset at the situation because we were just at the hospital and nothing was happening and now we were on our way back and he thought I just peed my pants. We got back to the hospital around 12 and by 12:30 I was hooked up to all the monitors getting ready to have my sweet boy! That night is pretty much a blur. My mom and Dave came up to the hospital to keep us company and hang out for a while, we all made bets on when you were going to arrive But.. No one one ha ha we all guest you were going to arrive that night but you didn't show up to the party tell the next day. After they left the contractions were getting a bit worse I really wanted to feel like I deserved the epidural so I was holding off as long as I could my nurse came in while I was in the middle of a contraction and asked me why in the world I have not gotten my epidural yet, she told me I was crazy and called the anesthesiologist. ( A Big Contraction)

(After my big contraction my mom rewarded me with a monster for you. I had a gundy (bear) when I was little and I wanted you to have a snuggley something. It had to be manly so I haad been looking for a cute manley monster sense I found out you were a boy and my mom finally found it)
I was pretty much scared from that point on. I had heard every ones horror stories about the epidural hurting or it wearing off during labor and I am not the kind of girl that wants to feel that kind of pain. Needless to say the epidural so did not hurt and it so did not wear off. It was great and I wish I would have got it sooner. After I was numb it was easy sailing from there. We played Phase 10 watched conference and your dad rubbed my feet. Labor was a blast. And then the coolest nurse came in her name was Jerry and she said it was time to push any minute. I then started to panic.. I was going to be a parent in less then a few hours and I was terrified. All these crazy things were running through my head like what if he turns out to be a serial killer, or he hates me or bla bla bla there were a million other things. Most of all I was so worried I would poo on the table during delivery. Doc. Davis came in with his waiter boots on and gloves up to his elbows and a helmet with a shield on it it was the funniest looking get up I have ever seen. He sat down at his station and all of a sudden I hear this big old fart... yes.. yes I just farted in my doctors face it was the most embarrassing thing that has ever happened to me up until that moment. After that it was go time. I pushed and pushed and pushed and played tug-o-war with my kick butt nurse and yes I pooped on the table can you believe that? Nurse Jerry kept coming over and "checking me" but really she was wiping down my poop infested blue pad thing and then I got a whiff of the most awful smell ever so I looked up at your dad and asked him if I pooped he got a cute smile on his face and... said no love you didn't poo, but I knew something was up either I pooped or you were the stinkiest baby EVER (and we all know that is not the case), any who you dad is not a very good liar so I made them bring around the mirror so I could see for myself AAAA the worst site I have ever seen in my life. so I decided at that moment to get you out and so I began the pushing once again, then at 11:00 the doctor and nurse started to get a funny look on their faces and the nurse said cord.. cord around his neck and the doctor reached in and said how about 3 times. At that moment my heart sank.. you couldn't breath. So doctor Davis reached in and pulled you out and very gently but quickly unwrapped your neck and I heard the best noise ever your cry (it wasn't really a cry more like a cat meowing). And that was the start of a new adventure.Align Center
